A digital story co-produced by myself and a fisherman in Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico. This piece highlights the changes experienced on the human level surrounding environmental, socio-cultural and economic effects of the global shark trade.
An experimental film I produced as part of my thesis in anthropology, Pez a Pescado illuminates a new perspective not often seen in shark conservation. To contextualize the film, I begin with a brief overview of what has driven me to create an experimental film on this subject. Misrepresentations of sharks and fishers monopolize how we perceive these marginalized others--as both victims and villains.
